Mr. Alton Hooks
Mr. Alton Hooks, age 64, of Soperton, died on Thursday, April 21, 2022.
Mr. Hooks was born in Soperton and was a lifelong resident of Treutlen County. He attended school in Treutlen County, was a retired heavy equipment operator for Hooks Construction and was a member of Rosemont Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmitt and Mallie Manning Hooks; and 4 brothers, Wallace Hooks, Paul Hooks, Ward Hooks and Dale Hooks.
Survivors include his wife of over 28 years, Darlene Calhoun Hooks of Soperton; 1 son and daughter-in-law, Lance and Heather Hooks of Soperton; 2 daughters, Amie Elliott of Statesboro and Mallorie Morris of Waynesboro; 1 brother, Gerald (Becky) Hooks of Soperton; 2 sisters, Carolyn (Jim Paul) Barnes of McRae and Bernice ( Johnny) Williams of Mobile, AL; 2 grandchildren, Colt and Mallie Hooks; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, April 24, 2022, at 3:00 p.m., in the chapel of Higgs Funeral Home in Soperton, with Rev. Reece Mincey officiating. Burial was in Westview Cemetery in Soperton.
Honorary pallbearers were T.J. Hudson, Troy Hackle, John L. Snead, Ryan Griner, Billy Wade, Frankie Wade and Mitchell Meeks.
Active pallbearers were John Hooks, Robert Hooks, Derek Barnes, Wayne Hooks, Marvin Hooks and Stacey Sumner.
Higgs Funeral Home of Soperton was in charge of arrangements.
