Soap Box Derby racers will compete Saturday, April 30, for the chance to go to Akron, Ohio, for the International Soap Box Derby. The race begins at 8 a.m. at Derby Hill (168 Miot Street) in Partin Park in Lyons.

VACCINATING PETS - Several animal rescues and the city of Mount Vernon worked together to host a free dog and cat vaccine clinic on Saturday, November 16, to ensure all animals have the vaccines they need to remain healthy and refrain from spreading disease.
