VRD 12U Boys Win State

The Vidalia Recreation Department's 12U baseball team brought home the State Championship in the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association tournament held in Statesboro in June. The VRD went undefeated in the tournament to claim their title. Vidalia took on Bryan County in their first game and rolled to a 15-0 win. Up next for them was the team from Glynn County. Vidalia kept the bats hot as they pounded out 13 more runs on the way to a 13-3 victory.

That moved Vidalia into the semifinals where they met up with Wayne County. This was the closest game of the tournament for the VRD boys, but they still won by five runs. Vidalia took the win 10-5 over Wayne to move into the Championship Game.

Wayne County worked back through the losers' bracket to get the rematch with Vidalia, but in this game VRD blanked Wayne as they won 8-0 to take the title.
