BPC Volleyball Starting Season

Brewton-Parker College Volleyball opened the 2022 season on Saturday with a road contest against Coastal Georgia. The Lady Barons were in Brunswick, Ga. with a 2 p.m. first serve scheduled.
Last season, Brewton- Parker recorded an overall record of 2-25 while going 0-14 in Southern States Athletic Conference play. The Lady Barons look to extend the current twogame season- opener winning streak after previously securing wins over Pensacola Christian (Fla.) in the 2020 and 2021 seasons.
Head Coach Ashley Wingers enters her second season at the helm of the program alongside first-year Assistant Coach, Amanda Jeffery. The Lady Barons have five returners competing this season with six new faces being added to the program, three of which are freshmen.
During the 2021-22 campaign, Kinsley Jordan led BPC with 149 kills followed by Jala Merriweather with 135. Taylor Scarbrough also recorded triple-digit kills with 108 on the season. Jordan also led the team in digs with 236 last season. As a team, BPC recorded 7.34 kills per set, 6.90 assists per set, and 14.18 digs per set.
Two weeks ago, Brewton-Parker was slated to finish ninth in the SSAC Coaches’ Preseason Poll. SSAC play is set to begin on September 9 while the SSAC Conference Tournament is slated for early November.
