Vikings Get First Points
The Treutlen County High School Vikings football team took on the Blue Tide of Long County on Thursday night of last week in Soperton. Treutlen fell in the game 60-14, and it was the first loss for the Vikings ever to Long County. Long jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter of the game as they put four touchdowns on the board. They scored their first one on a run of 46 yards, the second came on a run of 50 yards, the third on a 60-yard run, and the final on a 2-yard run. That put them on top 28-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Treutlen got on the board in the second quarter with 3:40 on the clock. The touchdown came on a 24-yard pass from Jordan Coney to Kolby McLendon. This was the first touchdown of the season for the Vikings. They added the extra point to close the lead to 28-7.
Long added one more touchdown before the end of the first half to head into the locker rooms with the Tide on top 36-7.
In the second half of the game Long added three more rushing touchdowns on their way to the 60-14 win. The final score from Treutlen came on a 16-yard pass from Coney to Cooper Brantley.
Treutlen is off this week and will be back in action next week when the face Toombs County in Soperton with kickoff at 7:30 p.m.
