The Brewton-Parker soccer teams were in action last week as the women took on #1 ranked Keiser (Fla.) and picked up their first win of the season over Florida National. The men, though, lost their match against Florida National.

Women vs. Keiser

Brewton-Parker Women’s Soccer faced No. 1-ranked Keiser (Fla.) on the road today in what proved to be a tough challenge. The Barons (0-3) were outmatched in a 7-1 defeat to the Seahawks (6-0) on Friday afternoon.

The Seahawks opened the scoring early with a goal in the first minute of play and then followed with another in the 7th minute. Brewton-Parker was able to pull within one score with Chloe Bailey finding the back of the net in the 10th minute.

Unfortunately for the Lady Barons, Keiser responded with five additional goals in the 21st, 23rd, 26th, and 31st minutes to lead 6-1 in the first half. The Seahawks managed to find just one goal in the second half during the 79th minute of play to secure the 7-1 victory.

KU held the overall shot advantage, 43-9 while also holding a 23-1 advantage in shots on goal. Kelsie Stapler notched a total of 16 saves in the match with 10 coming in the first half.

The Barons will continue the Florida trip with a contest against Florida National on Saturday at 3 p.m. ET.

vs. FL National

Brewton-Parker Women’s Soccer challenged Florida National on the road on Saturday and secured Interim Head Coach Phillip Borde’s first win at the helm of the Brewton-Parker program. The Lady Barons (1-3) utilized a goal in each half to secure the first win of the season over the Conquistadors (0-3), 2-1.

“I am proud of the grit the ladies showed to secure the win,” Borde said. “We took our chances when they came, and defensively, we were more sound as well as unified. Overall, I am happy with our work rate today.”

The Lady Barons opened the scoring in the 9th minute as Megan Parker secured her first goal of the season with the assist of Chloe Bailey. BPC managed to hold Florida National away as Kelsie Stapler notched three saves in the first 45 minutes of play. FNU outshot BPC 8-3 in the half.

Parker slotted another goal in the 80th minute with the help of Bailey Brandly to take a 2-0 lead over FNU. The Conquistadors responded quickly with a goal in the 81st minute to pull within a goal. FNU held the advantage in overall shots, 14-6 while both teams were drawn at five shots on goal each. Parker led BPC with a pair of goals on three total shots.

Men vs. Fl National

Brewton-Parker Men’s Soccer faced No. 19-ranked Florida National on Saturday evening. The Barons (0-5-1) were downed by the Conquistadors (4-0) 6-0 on the road.

Brewton-Parker had an opportunity to strike first with a penalty kick awarded in the 9th minute. Landon Brafford was given the chance, but FNU’s keeper saved Brafford’s shot on goal. Florida National opened the scoring in the 11th minute and followed with goals in the 22nd, 25th, and 31st minutes to lead 4-0 after the first 45 minutes of action. The Conquistadors led the half with a 14-1 shot advantage.

Florida National added two more goals to the tally with goals in the 60th and 83rd minutes to eventually win 6-0 over the Barons. FNU outshot BPC 11-3 in the second half. FLA held the overall shot advantage, 25-4 while also holding a 14-3 advantage in shots on goal. Jamair Stewart earned the start and recorded six saves for the match.
