The Eagles softball team of Montgomery County High School played three games the week of September 12, picking up a win over Washington County. They also played Emanuel County Institute and Portal, dropping both of those games. Then last week they played Treutlen on Tuesday at home and then a double header against McIntosh County Academy on Thursday in Darien, winning all three games. vs. ECI

MCHS kicked off the week with a game against the Bulldogs of ECI. ECI got on the board first with a run in the bottom of the first inning. They added four more in the second and one in the third to take a 6-0 lead. The Eagles scored a run in the top of the fifth inning, but ECI plated five more in the bottom of the frame to win the game by the run rule, 11– 1.

vs. Washington

The Eagles jumped out with eight runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a commanding lead over Washington. They added five more runs in the second to pull ahead 13-0, and then won the game by the run rule in the bottom of the third with two more runs. That gave the Eagles a 15-0 win over the Golden Hawks. vs. Portal

It was a close game between the Eagles and the Panthers on Thursday of last week in Mt. Vernon. The low scoring game was decided by just one run as the Panthers defeated MCHS 2-1.

MCHS is now 5-8 on the year and they are 1-2 in Region play. This week they took on rival Treutlen County on Tuesday after presstime. They will be back in action on Thursday in Darien against McIntosh County Academy.

vs. Treutlen.

The Vikings took the early lead with three runs in the top of the first inning, but MCHS plated two in the bottom of the first to keep it close. Treutlen added a run in the top of the second inning to lead 4-2.

The Eagles plated two runs in the bottom of the third inning to tie the game at 4-4. Montgomery then blew the game open with five runs in the fifth inning to take a 9-4 lead. The Eagles added four more in the sixth to win by the run rule, 13-4. Marley Bell led MCHS with 6 RBI's on 4 hits, including a home run. Erin Adams and Laurie Conner both added 2 RBI's.

vs. MCA Game 1

The Eagles ran away with this one. They scored two in the second and then four in the third to lead 6-0 over the Buccaneers. They added one more in the fifth for a 7-0 lead, but MCA got things heated up in the bottom of the fifth with five runs. That made it 7-5 with MCHS holding the lead.

The Eagles answered with five runs in the top of the fifth inning, and three more in the sixth to take the win by the rul rule, 15-7, Bell had five more RBI's in this game for MCHS. Conner, Adams, and Jabrayla Coglin added two RBI's each.

Game 2

The Eagles took the lead with two runs in the top of the first inning with two runs. MCA scored a run in the bototm of the inning, but two more from MCHS in the top of the third put them on top 4-1. The Eagles plated five more in the fourth inning, while MCA added just two for a 9-3 lead. MCHS scored five more in the fifth inning and just gave up one run in the bottom of the frame as MCHS built up a 14-3 lead, The Bucs scored just one more run in the game in the bottom of the fifth to make the final score of the game 14-4 with MCHS winning.

The Eagles are now 8-8 on the year and are 3-2 in Region play.
