Eagles Win Over Jenkins
The Montgomery County High School Lady Eagles softball team played two games last week and split those contests. They opened the week with a Region win over Jenkins County at home, but then lost on Thursday when they hosted Emanuel County Institute. vs. Jenkins
MCHS took the lead in the bottom of the first inning with 3 runs and never looked back. They added another run in the second inning, and then closed out the win with 8 runs in the fourth for the run rule victory.
Marley Bell led MCHS with 4 hits and 3 RBI's, with Charlee Ely adding 4 RBI's on 3 hits.
vs. ECI
It was a close game early as ECI scored 2 runs in the top of the first inning, and MCHS plating 3 in the bottom of the first. ECI added 3 more in the third to take a 5-3 lead, and MCHS scored 1 in the third to close the lead to 5-4. In the top of the fourth inning ECI blew the game open as they scored 12 runs in the fourth to win the game 17-4 by the run rule.
Ely had 3 RBI's in the game for the Eagles. This week MCHS was at home on Monday against Clinch County. They will be at East Laurens on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. The Eagles will close out the regular season next week with two games against Wilcox County.
