Mr. John E. Sharpe, Jr., ….
Mr. John E. Sharpe, Jr., age 88, of Vidalia, died on Friday, October 7, 2022, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia following a brief illness. Mr. Sharpe was a native of Tattnall County, attended high school in Reidsville, and soon after entered the U.S. Navy, serving in the Korean War. He moved to Liberty County in 1986 and to Vidalia in 2019. He retired after 21 years as an electronics technician from civil service at Ft. Stewart. He was as active member of Midway Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir and served on various church committees. Preceding his in death were his parents, J.E. “Ed” Sharpe, Sr., and Ruby Mosley Sharpe; and 1 sister, Laverne Sharpe Iddins.
His family includes his wife of 38 years, Fran Sharpe of Vidalia; 2 daughters, Tracie Sharpe of Vidalia, and Pennie Cobb and husband Jay of Jacksonville, FL; 1 stepdaughter, Kim Wrenn of Vidalia; 3 grandchildren, Madison Henline of Garfield, TX, and Kayla Cobb and Will Cobb, both of Jacksonville; 1 brotherin- law, Wayne Phillips of Ft. Myers, FL; and several nieces and nephews. At Mr. Sharpe’s request, there will be no service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Midway Methodist Church, 215 Martin Road, Midway, GA 31320, or the Community Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 2277, Vidalia, GA 30475.
