MCHS Heading To Super Regional
The Montgomery County High School Lady Eagles softball team closed out the regular season last week with a loss against Wilcox County at home on Wednesday. But they finished the season with a record of 10-13 and were 4-4 in the Region and will head to play in the Super Regional this Thursday. This will be the first time the Eagles will play in the Region Tournament. Against Wilcox the Eagles fell behind in the first inning as the Patriots scored two runs in the top of the frame. MCHS answered with one in the bottom half, and then they tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the third inning. But the Patriots scored two runs in the fourth inning and two more in the fifth to take a 6-2 lead. MCHS plated two runs in the bottom of the fifth to close the lead to 6-4, but three more by Wilcox in the sixth made it 9-4.
Wilcox put four more on the board in the top of the seventh inning on the way to a 13-4 win over MCHS.
Charlee Ely led the way with 2 RBI's for MCHS with Marley Bell hitting in one run.
The Eagles will take on Hawkinsville's Red Devils on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in Baconton for the Class A Division 2 Super Regional.
