Eagles Play In 1st State Playoffs

The Montgomery County High School Eagles took part in the GHSA A Division II State Playoffs last week. It was the first time that the Eagles had made the State Playoffs. They lost their first round game to Hawkinsville and then fell in the losers' bracket to Echols County to end their season. MCHS finished with a record of 1015. vs. Hawkinsville MCHS got on the board first with a run in the top of the first inning, but the Red Devils came back with three runs in the bottom of the frame to take a 3-1 lead over MCHS. Hawkinsville scored three more in the second inning to lead 6-1.

In the top of the third inning the Eagles plated three runs to close the lead to 6-4, but two more from the Devils in the bottom of the inning made it 8-4.

In the top of the fifth inning MCHS closed the gap to 8-6, but it was 9-6 heading to the sixth inning after a run by the Devils. Hawkinsville added two more in the sixth inning on the way to an 11-6 win over MCHS. vs. Echols

The Eagles looked as if they were going to take the win over the Wildcats of Echols, but could not hold on late. MCHS was on top 5-2 heading to the top of the fifth inning, but the Wildcats came back with four runs over the next few inning to take the win 6-5 over the Eagles. The loss ended MCHS' season, but it was one of the best seasons in the school's history.
