A third life was claimed at the intersection of James Street (Georgia Highway 130) and Sawmill Road (Georgia Highway 292) in Higgston, as a truck and car collided on Thursday afternoon, October 20. Drivers were detoured around the scene of the accident for around an hour by Higgston Volunteer Firefighters. Details on the mishap will come at a later date as the Georgia State Patrol has completed its investigation but has not released the report. VACCINATING PETS - Several animal rescues and the city of Mount Vernon worked together to host a free dog and cat vaccine clinic on Saturday, November 16, to ensure all animals have the vaccines they need to remain healthy and refrain from spreading disease.
