It was a busy week for the Indians basketball teams of Vidalia High School as they took on Emanuel County Institute on Tuesday and Saturday and played at Montgomery County on Friday.

Girls vs. ECI

Vidalia jumped out to a 10-5 lead in the first quarter of the game and pushed that lead to 23-12 by halftime. In the third quarter ECI made a run to close the lead to 3428, but in the fourth VHS went on a run as they took the win, 53-33 over the Bulldogs.

Boys vs. ECI The Indians had no problems with ECI as they ran away with the win. VHS pulled away early and won the game 79-24.

Girls vs. MCHS

VHS had the lead early in this game, but the Lady Eagles came back to take the win. MCHS started out slow and trailed 18-8 at the end of the first quarter. But in the second they came storming back as they outscored the Indians 14-6. That made the score at halftime 24-22, with VHS on top.

In the third quarter it was more from the Eagles as they took the lead and pulled away to a 35-30 lead. VHS tried to make a late run, but MCHS held them off to take the win, 48-40.

VHS was led by Hannah Nichols with 11 points. Marley Bell led MCHS with 22 points and Amire Banks added 15.

Boys vs. Vidalia

Vidalia took the early lead, 11-4, by the end of the first quarter. They increased that lead to 23-13 by halftime. MCHS had a better third quarter as they kept pace with the Indians, but were still trailing 37-25 heading to the fourth.

Washington added 11. MCHS was led by Javarius Kelly with 15 points.

VHS vs. ECI

The Lady Indians picked up another win over ECI as they pulled away to a 57-45 win. The boys again had no issues as they ran out to a 77-17 victory.

This week Vidalia was at rival Toombs County on Tuesday after presstime. They will be at Pierce County on Friday at 6:00 p.m. and then on Saturday they will host Montgomery County at 2:00 p.m.

During the MCHS games on Saturday, VHS will begin to honor some of their new Hall of Fame members. There will be a full ceremony after the games at 5:30 p.m. to recognize all of the first class of the new VHS Hall of Fame.
