Vikings Have Good Week
The Treutlen County High School Vikings basketball teams took on Telfair County, Wheeler County, and West Laurens last week. The girls picked up wins over Telfair and Wheeler while the boys won over Wheeler and West Laurens Girls vs. Telfair
Treutlen jumped out to a big lead in the first quarter of the game as they outscored the Trojans 26-16. In the second quarter both teams struggled on offense as the game went halftime with Treutlen on top 2922.
In the third quarter Telfair continued the comeback as they pulled the score to 39-37 with Treutlen clinging to a lead. In the fourth Telfair made up those two points and tied the game at 51-51 at the end of regulation to send the game to overtime.
In the overtime period Treutlen took control as they took the win, 59- 53.
Boys vs. Telfair
The Vikings kept it close but fell to the Trojans. Telfair took the win 78-71 over Treutlen.
Girls vs. Wheeler
The Lady Vikings ran away with the win over Wheeler. Treutlen led 13-10 at the end of the first quarter but pulled away in the second on the way to a 3614 halftime lead.
The Vikings continued to increase their lead in the second half. They led 50-24 at the end of the third and took the win, 80-30.
Boys vs. Wheeler
In the boys game the Vikings had a similar experience as they took the win over the Bulldogs. Treutlen won the game 80- 43.
Girls vs. W. Laurens
In the girls game against the Raiders, West Laurens came out on top. The Raiders won the game 48-42 in a close contest.
Boys vs. W. Laurens
In the boys game the Raiders led 17-13 at the end of the first period, but in the second the Vikings closed the lead to 29-28, trailing by just one point.
Treutlen took the lead in the third and built up a 50-41 lead. The Vikings held on and picked up the win, 73-62.
This week the Vikings played ECI on Tuesday after presstime. They will be back in action on Friday at Hawkinsville at 6:00 p. m.
