The Montgomey County High School Eagles basketball teams had a busy week as they played Jeff Davis, Wheeler County, and Vidalia last week. The Lady Eagles won all three of their games, while the boys defeated Jeff Davis and Wheeler County.

Girls vs. JD

The Lady Eagles rolled to a win over the Yellow Jackets on Tuesday in Hazlehurst. MCHS pulled away early and were on top 18-5 at the end of the first quarter. They increased their lead to 35-9 by halftime and were in complete control of the game.

In the second half they were leading 54-12 heading to the fourth quarter and took the win 61-19.

Leading the way for MCHS was Amire Banks with 18 points and Marley Bell with 10 points.

Boys vs. JD The boys game was a battle with the Eagles pulling out the win. The Eagles led early 5-0, but JD closed it back to 7-5. In the third quarter the Eagles were on top 43-35, but the Yellow Jackets made a late run.

MCHS held them off to take the win, 47-46.

Girls vs. Wheeler

It was another blowout win for the Lady Eagles as they took care of business against the Lady Bulldogs of Wheeler County. MCHS rolled to a 62-22 win over Wheeler to improve their record to 7-1.

Boys vs. Wheeler

In the boys game it was a slow start for both teams as it took more than three minutes of game time before either team put any points on the board. MCHS took the initial lead and went ahead 7-0 with 3:30 left in the first.

just over two minutes left in the first quarter. The Bulldogs took their first lead of the game with just one minute left to go in the quarter. But the Eagles took the lead back and were up 15-13 at the end of the first period.

In the second MCHS was up 19-18 with 4:23 left in the first half. MCHS was on top 27-20 with just over a minute to go in the first half.

In the fourth quarter the Eagles were up 3928, but the Bulldogs again came back. There was a flurry of baskets as the game was winding down. MCHS came away with the win, 52-48 over Wheeler.

Girls vs. VHS

In the girls game against the Lady Indians, MCHS pulled out the win. It was tied early at 9-9, but early in the second quarter the Eagles were on top 20-17. They increased that lead to 24-17 and then were up 29-21 late in the first half.

Late in the third quarter the Lady Indians came back to tie the game at 45-45, but MCHS pulled away again as the game was winding down to take a 63-53 win.

Boys vs. VHS

It was a low scoring game between the two boys teams. MCHS put just 29 points on the board against the tough VHS defense. The Indians struggled on offense as well but took the win 48- 29.

MCHS is off this week and will be back in action after Christmas.
