Treutlen Has Big Week
It was a good week for the Vikings basketball teams from Treutlen County High School. Treutlen swept both Hawkinsville and Dooly County last week. The Lady Vikings improved their record to 10-8 overall, but they are now 7-1 in Region play. The boys are 11-8 on the season and are now 6-2 in the Region.
Girls vs. Hawkinsville
The Lady Vikings took an early 13-9 lead in the first quarter over the Red Devils. Hawkinsville came back in the second, but Treutlen held a 28-27 lead at halftime.
In the third quarter the Vikings were on top 43-41, and held off the Devils in the fourth quarter. It was a tight finish, but the Vikings came out on top 54-53.
Treutlen was led by Shaccarria Jackson with 19 points, and Zaleria Miller added 16 in the win.
Boys vs. Hawkinsville
The boys game wasn't quite as close, but it was still a good game with the Vikings coming out on top. Treutlen went ahead 16-8 in the first quarter of the game. The Devils closed the lead in the second, but Treutlen was on top 30-27 heading to halftime.
In the third quarter the Vikings went on a run as they outscored the Devils 21-11. That put them on top 51-38 heading to the fourth quarter. Hawkinsville tried to close in on the Vikings, but Treutlen took the win, 64-56.
Girls vs. Dooly
It was a blowout for the Lady Vikings as they pulled away early from the Lady Bobcats and got the win. Treutlen had three players in double figures with Miller leading the way with 16 points. Jackson posted 13 points and ZaMariyah Demery scored 11 in the win.
Treutlen took the game 58-18 over Dooly.
Boys vs. Dooly
The boys also got a win over the Bobcats on Saturday at home. Treutlen took the win 7057 over Dooly.
On Tuesday of this week the Vikings took on Telfair County at home after presstime. They will be back in action on Saturday at home against Turner County with the girls at 6:00 p.m. and the boys to follow.
