Trippe Takes 2nd Place
The J.R. Trippe Middle School wrestling team competed in the Middle Georgia Middle School Athletic Association (MGMSAA) Region Wrestling Championship on Thursday, January 19, at Vidalia High School. The Chiefs had a solid showing on the mat and came away with second place as a team behind West Laurens Middle School. There were also multiple individual place finishers for the Chiefs.
There were six wrestlers that earned Region Championships. Anthony Nichols, Dylan Kicklighter, Brenton Farmer, Tavon Hill, De-Andre Carlie, and Chandler Smith all earned titles at the meet.
Andre Jackson took 2nd place in the meet. Reve Page, Caden Sapp, and Landon Scott all came away with 3rd place in the meet.
The Region Tournament concludes a successful season for the Chiefs. Despite multiple injuries throughout the season, the team worked hard and persevered over the past three months. 'I am very proud of the team, and all they have accomplished this year. Wrestling is a grueling sport, but these wrestlers showed they have what it takes to perform at a high level. We are excited about the future of Vidalia wrestling,' said Coach Gray Meredith.
