Lady Eagles Keep Rolling

The Montgomery County High School Eagles basketball teams were in action last week against Portal and Mc-Intosh County Academy. The boys also faced off with Savannah Classical Academy. The girls won both of their contests, while the boys got a win over Savannah.

Girls vs. Portal

The Lady Eagles won in dominating fashion over the Lady Panthers. This game was decided in the first quarter as MCHS jumped out to a 21-4 lead. They added to that in the second to make the halftime score 49-9.

In the second half the Eagles were able to get all of the players in off the bench. MCHS was on top 58-13 at the end of the third, and they took the win, 68- 21.

Marley Bell led MCHS with 19 points, with Amire Banks and Jaliya Moore each adding 12 points in the win.

Boys vs. Portal

The boys game went the other way as Portal came out on top. The Panthers were up 22-13 at the end of the first quarter and pushed that lead to 40-25 heading into halftime.

Portal kept up the pressure in the third as they outscored the Eagles 2110 to hold a 61-35 lead a the end of the third. Portal went on to win the game 74-45 over MCHS.

Boys vs. Savannah

The MCHS boys picked up their only win of the week on Friday night as they hosted the Spartans of Savannah Classical. The Eagles pulled away early in the game and got the win, 70-35.

Girls vs. McIntosh

It was another easy win for the Lady Eagles as they were in Darien to face the Lady Buccaneers. MCHS jumped out to a 9-2 lead, and then made it 12-2 after a three-pointer by Moore. In the second half of the game the Eagles pulled away as they took the win, 60-33.

Boys vs. McIntosh

The Bucs pulled out to a 19-9 lead in the first quarter, and pushed that to 42-21 by the end of the first half. McIntosh continued to add to their lead in the second half as they led 62-35 at the end of the third. The Bucs won the game by the score of 7547.

The Lady Eagles are now 20-1 on the season and are 6-0 in Region play. The boys are 8-12 for the year and are 3-4 in Region play.

This week MCHS took on Jenkins County at home on Tuesday after presstime. The boys will play on Saturday at Savannah Classical at 5:00 p.m. The girls are off until next week which is the final week of the regular season.
