Indian Soccer Gets 2 Wins
The Vidalia High School soccer teams kicked off their season last week with matches against Bryan County and Swainsboro. The Lady Indians fell in both of their contests, but the boys picked up two wins.
Girls vs. Bryan
The Lady Indians held Bryan County to a 0-0 tie heading into halftime. But in the second half of the game the Lady Redskins scored three times to pick up the 3-0 win over VHS.
Boys vs. Bryan
The boys rolled to an easy win over the Redskins. VHS scored seven times in the first half of the game to hold a 7-0 lead heading to halftime. VHS added three goals in the second half to take a 10-0 win.
James Collins led the way with 3 goals and an assist. Clayton Cox added two goals and had 4 assists. Jude Owen added 2 goals and 3 assists. Tim Corbin had 1 goal and 1 assist, Lake Wright and Dakota Brannon each scored 1 goal. VHS goalkeeper Sawyer Adams didn't allow any goals, and the VHS defense allowed only 1 shot on goal all game.
Girls vs. Swainsboro The Lady Indians dropped their game against the Lady Tigers on Thursday in Swainsboro. VHS fell in the game 2-1.
Boys vs. Swainsboro
In the boys game against the Tigers, VHS scored two first half goals. The game was then called at the half as weather moved into the area and forced play to stop.
Owen and Adam Crutchfield each had a goal in the game, and Adams picked up a save in goal.
This week the Indians will be at Dodge County on Friday at 5:00 p. m.
