TCHS Soccer Opens Season

The Toombs County High School soccer teams kicked off their season last week with games against Southeast Bulloch and Wayne County. Both opponents are AAAA schools and gave the Bulldogs a good opening test. TCHS split with SEB, and then got a win and a tie with Wayne. vs. SEB
On Tuesday night, the Toombs County soccer teams opened up their regular season campaigns, hosting AAAA Southeast Bulloch.
Girls
In the girls match, the Toombs County Lady Soccer Dogs battled hard to keep the score 1-0 in the 1st half. SEB added 3 goals in the 2nd half to finish the lady dogs off, 4-0.
Boys
In the boys match, the Bulldogs scored 1st on a Braylen Dietrich header on a corner kick, and then took a 1-0 advantage into the 2nd half. The Bulldogs took just 90 seconds to score a goal in the 2nd half when senior Gustavo Delgado netted his 1st of 2 goals on the evening. Yovanny Zamorano also added 2 goals, while Daniel Santoyo scored his 1st high school goal.
The bulldogs ended up taking the match 6-0. vs. Wayne
On Thursday night of last week, both Toombs County High School Bulldog soccer teams traveled to Jesup to take on AAAA Wayne County.
Girls
In the girls match, Anyadi Colmenares scored the 1st goal, followed by a 2nd goal by Alexandra Nava. Wayne County got one back with 19 seconds left in the 1st half on a penalty kick and added a 2nd goal in the 2nd half to tie the match at 2-2. Neither team could find the back of the net over the remainder of the time as the match ended in a tie at 2-2.
Boys
In the boys match, Wayne County scored 1st, but the bulldogs answered with 2 goals by Kenneth Perez before the break, to take a 2-1 lead. In the second half, Yovanny Zamorano added a 3rd goal from the penalty spot to extend the lead to 3-1, which was the final score. This moves their record to 2-0.
TCHS was back in action on Tuesday of this week after presstime at home against Jeff Davis. They will not play again until next Tuesday when they host Tattnall County at 5:00 p.m.
