As a part of its service project for the 2023 National Junior Beta Club Convention, the Montgomery County Schools Junior Beta Club will be hosting a dog show for small dogs (weighing less than 15 pounds). The public is invited to participate.
In October, a group of students – Kaden Williamson, Fletcher Thomas, Penelope Rodriguez, and Natalie Hardeman – presented their idea for a small dog fashion show at the Junior Beta Leadership Summit in LaGrange. The show is intended to raise funding and support for the local Sweet Onion Animal Protection Society (SOAPS).
The project, called “Paws for a Cause,” found favor among administrators at the summit, and was chosen as one of around a dozen proposals to be presented at the Jr. Beta National Convention in June.
The students have planned the event, which they have named, “Top Hats for Top Dogs,” for Saturday, March 4, at 10:30 a.m. in the auditorium of the Montgomery County Board of Education (MCBOE). Tickets are $3 per person at the door, and all money raised will benefit SOAPS.
Trophies will be awarded to the winning dogs in several categories, such as Grand Champion, Reserve Champion, Cutest Dog, Most Personality, and Owner’s Choice. To register your dog, or for more information, contact the MCBOE at (912) 583-2301.
