The Toombs County High School baseball team played two games against Screven County last week and split with the Gamecocks, and then fell to AAAAA Coffee County on Thursday. vs. Screven

The Toombs County Bulldog Baseball teams traveled over to Sylvania on Tuesday night and fell to Screven County 16-6.

In the first inning, the Bulldogs got their offense started when they scored two runs on a Trayvone Harris double. They added three more runs in the second inning on another double by Brantley Upshaw. Things were looking up for the Bulldogs until Screven County pulled away in the second inning with 12 runs. That made the score 12-5.

Screven added another run in the third inning before Toombs posted one in the top of the fourth. That made the score 13-6. Screven scored three more in the bottom of the fourth, and held in the fifth to win the game by the run rule, 16- 6.

Gavin Hall started on the mound for Toombs. The right-hander allowed three hits and seven runs over one and one-third innings, striking out one. Jackson Jenkins, Harris, and Dawson Brantley each contributed in relief for Bulldogs.

On Wednesday the Toombs County Bulldog Baseball team had all cylinders firing on offense defeating Screven County 16-1 in the second game of a home and home series.

The Bulldogs got on the board in the first inning when Kipp Mosley’s sac fly scored one run for the Bulldogs. They added seven runs in the second inning with Tucker Braddy, Cameron Ledford, Dawson Brantley, Trayvone Harris, and Brantley Upshaw all contributing in the big inning with RBIs. Toombs was on top 13-0 at the end of the second.

Screven scored their only run of the game in the top of the third inning, but the Bulldogs plated three more in the fourth to win by the run rule, 16-1.

The Bulldog offense saw the ball really well throughout the evening, racking up 11 hits in the game. Jackson Jenkins, Dawson Brantley, and Brantley Upshaw each collected multiple hits for Toombs.

Lucas O’Conner was the winning pitcher for the DAWGS. The righty delivered four innings of strong work on the mound, allowing one hit and one run while striking out two. vs. Coffee

The Toombs County Bulldog Baseball team traveled over to Coffee County on Thursday night and struggled to get any momentum going dropping their game 100.

Gavin Hall started on the pitcher’s mound for the Dogs. The righty allowed four hits and seven runs over two and a third innings, striking out one. Dawson Brantley and Trayvone Harris entered the game from the bullpen, throwing one and two-thirds innings and one-third of an inning respectively.

The Bulldogs couldn’t really get anything going offensively on the day. Toombs County Bulldogs Varsity was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error.

Toombs is off to a 1-3 start on the season, but hopes to get things turned around before the begin Region play. This week Toombs hosted Metter on Monday and was at Dublin on Tuesday, both after presstime. They won't play again until next Monday when they face Richmond Hill on the road at 6:00 p.m.
