On Monday of last week the Toombs County High School Bulldog Tennis teams faced off in their first match of the year against Tattnall County.
Jamison Gates started his season with a victory in singles action. Another singles player, Scarlett Stanley, got off to a great start to the year even though she had to play a double tiebreaker for her win. Parker Stanley and Cameron VerSluis also had to play a tiebreaker for their victory. Melea Pittman, Jaycie Willett, Zykorie Mason, Gabriel Izquierdo, Anna Patrick, Alexis Hart, Ella Adams, Kaitlin Cruz, RJ Florez and Angel Acosta all played exceptionally well on the afternoon.
Coach Matthew Versluis said, “I was very proud of how we played and reacted to adversity. Our student athletes have practiced very well and now we have some fine tuning to do before our next match this coming Thursday in Brantley County. We appreciate all the support from parents and friends that came out to watch Monday.”
