Brewton-Parker College Vice President of Athletics Chris Dooley has announced the hiring of Obed Quiles as the Head Coach of BPC Women’s Volleyball. “We are pleased to welcome Obed to Mount Vernon and we are excited to announce the hire,” Dooley said. “We believe Obed will do a great job with this program and that he will be a great addition to our coaching staff here at Brewton-Parker.”
Quiles comes to Mount Vernon after previously serving as Head Coach at the University of Pikeville in Kentucky.
The Naranjito, Puerto Rico, native led the Bears as the Head Coach for eight seasons (2015-2022). Prior to becoming the Head Coach, Quiles, a twotime graduate of Pikeville, served as an assistant.
During his time at Pikeville, Quiles coached four All-Conference players, 14 NAIA Scholar-Athletes, and 59 Academic All-Conference selections. He became the second-winningest coach at Pikeville and in 2016, led a team to 17 wins and a .500 record which was the most since 2007.
“I am excited to start this new opportunity here at BPC,” Quiles mentioned. “I am grateful to Mr. Dooley and all of those involved. I look forward to making an impact on this program.”
In addition to his duties at Pikeville, Quiles became the Founder and Director of the East Kentucky Volleyball Academy in 2018.
