VHS Soccer Gets Two Wins

The Indian soccer teams of Vidalia High School had a busy week last week with three matches. They hosted Pierce County on Tuesday, were at Windsor Forest on Thursday and then hosted Appling County on Friday. The girls and boys each won just one game on the week. vs. Pierce

The Lady Indians were blanked by the Lady Bears on Tuesday. Pierce rolled to a 10-0 win over VHS.

In the boys game Pierce also came out on top. They had one first half goal and then added three more in the second half to win the game over VHS, 4-0.

vs. Windsor

After a scoreless first half, both Vidalia and Windsor picked up a goal in the second half to make it 1-1 at the end of regulation.

That sent the game to overtime. In the overtime period VHS managed to get a goal as they took the win, 2-1, over the Lady Knights.

In the boys game Windsor had a goal in the first half and two more in the second half as they defeated VHS, 3-0. vs. Appling

The Lady Indians did score a goal in the first half of the game, but Appling put four on the board in the half to take the lead. Neither team scored in the second half as Appling came out on top.

The boys game was a thriller that went to double overtime. In the first half VHS had the lead, 2-1, but in the second half the Pirates came back. VHS picked up a goal in the second half, but Appling scored two to send the game to overtime, 3-3.

Neither team scored in the first overtime, but in double OT, VHS added two goals and kept the Pirates at bay to secure the win, 5-3.

The Lady Indians are 2-12 on the year and are 2-10 in the Region, and the boys are 5-9 and 4-8 in the Region. This is the final week of the regular season. VHS was at Toombs County on Tuesday after presstime, and will wrap up the season on Thursday at home against Savannah Arts at 5:00 p.m.
