Wilcox Sweeps Wheeler

It was a tough week for the Bulldog baseball team of Wheeler County High School as they took on Wilcox County. Wilcox is the #1 team in the Region and they solidified that spot with a sweep of the Bulldogs. Wheeler will head into the playoffs at the #2 seed from the Region. w Wilcoxrolledtoawin in the first game of the series. They plated two runs in the first inning, added one in the second, and three more in the third to take a 6-0 lead. Wilcox scored two more in the fourth, and one in each of the fifth and sixth innings. That gave Wilcox a 10-0 win.

In the second game Wilcox again went ahead early, and this time won the game 13-1 over the Bulldogs.

In the final game of the week Wheeler kept it closer, but couldn't overcome. The Bulldogs got on the board first with a run in the top of the first inning. But in the bottom half of the frame, Wilcox scored twice to take a 2-1 lead.

Wilcox added two in the third and one more in the fourth inning to pick up the win, 5-1.

This week the Bulldogs played Portal on Tuesday after presstime, and will play the final regular season game on Thursday at Metter at 6:00 p.m.
