The 46th Annual Vidalia Onion Festival brought beautiful weather and a lot of memories for members of the community, who enjoyed all the festival had to offer.
The festivities began with a community Movie Under the Stars on Tuesday night, April 18, and ended as the community came together one last time for a group worship session at the Praise at the Park event, which was new to this year’s festival schedule. 2023 Vidalia Onion Festival Chairman Jake Cleghorn even closed out the festival with a surprise performance of “Sweet, Sweet Spirit” alongside singer Luther Wardlaw, as the pair emphasized the joy which the weekend had brought.
“I am a newcomer, but have never experienced a truer picture of what we call ‘community’ than the events over the past week,” Cleghorn explained. “Vidalia was able to connct our local and visiting patrons and businesses to spotlight our beautiful downtown. We brought the big city vibe and mixed it with small town hospitality ad created an economic event that left longlasting impressions and many smiles and memories.”
