Fountain To Play At BPC
On Thursday of last week Vidalia High School student-athlete Sloan Fountain signed his letter of intent to play golf for the Barons of Brewton-Parker College.
Fountain is a threeyear player for Coach Chad Barker and recently led the Indians to their third straight Area Championship, posting a 76, while helping the Indians to a 20-stroke victory over second place Toombs County. The 76 was one stroke off of the Low Medalist. Fountain’s two-year scoring average sits at 77.1, with the State Championships to still be played on May 22 & 23.
Fountain said, “I want to give a special thanks to Coach Davidson for the opportunity. I have worked hard over the last three years, but never thought I would be here. Have to thank my family and all of my coaches for getting me to this point.”
Kelly Fountain, his father, stated, “I am excited for him. Never thought this would happen when he decided to play golf three years ago. He has really worked hard and I expect to see big things from him and hope that he can help out Brewon- Parker in a big way.”
VHS Coach Chad Barker said, “He came in as a sophomore really as a baseball player, but has put in the work and has become our top player this year. He deserves all that has come his way. His family has really supported him and I am happy for all of them and for BPC.” BPC Coach Mark Davidson added, “We are very excited to get Sloan on the team. We are getting some quality golfers and he is really going to compete for the top five positions. I have heard nothing but good about him, and we love to get the local guys into our school. He is just a class act and you can just tell he was raised right, and that is the type of guys we want on our team at BPC.”
