Bennett Signs With BPC
On Thursday of last week Vidalia High School's Kaleb Bennett signed his letter of intent to play baseball for the Barons of Brewton-Parker College.
Bennett was the leading hitter for the Indians State Championship team last year with a .395 average. He was a First Team All Region selection as DH last year and a Second Team outfielder this season.
Bennett said, “It really just felt like home to me there and somewhere I wanted to be. I know some of the other guys there like Bryce Morley, and they have the nursing program that I want to go into as well, so just a good fit for me. I have to thank my mom and my dad, and my coaches for the chances that they took on me. I also have to thank Mr. Brandon Boston. Without him I don't know if I would be the man that I am today, he really made a difference.”
His mother Karen Kist added, “I am just excited for him. He has been playing ball since he was five years old, and this is just great for him. He is going to be close to home. He has put in a lot of work, and he is going to go there, make some big life decisions, and get to play ball along the way.”
Head Coach Brent Korn stated, “Tells you how good a player he is, we had some guys that could really swing it on the State Championship team last year, and he had the best average of them all. Just excited for him to get this chance. He has real leadership skills and is a real competitor. We look forward to seeing what he can do and to get to watch him play.”
