VHA Announces Honor Graduates

At the Senior Honors Night on Thursday, May 18, Vidalia Heritage Academy has officially announced the Honor Graduates of the Class of 2023 Eagles, who graduated on Saturday, May 27.
These honor graduates were broken down into two categories: Honor Graduates – who have a at least 4.0 weighted GPA and have completed a minimum of 6 Advanced Placement or dual enrollment courses, and/or made significant contributions to the overall mission of the school – and Honor Graduates With Distinction – who have a at least 4.1 weighted GPA and have completed a minimum of 8 Advanced Placement or dual enrollment courses.
Honor graduates were Casen Jones, Harmony Shaw, Shelby Sikes, and John Smith. Honor Graduates with Distinction included Julia Beacham, Hailey Horton, Emily Jarriel, Carleigh Miley, John Colby Thompson, Rylee Toole, and Lily Williams.
Julia Beacham served as the Class Valedictorian, and Emily Jarriel acted as the Salutatorian. Lily Williams and Rylee Toole were also honored during the ceremony, as Williams was deemed the Class Historian and Toole was denoted the Class Theologian.
Scholarships
Julia Beacham received the most scholarships of the night, as she was recognized for earning 7 total, including the Meadows Auxiliary Scholarship, Elizabeth Wilmot Bull Scholarship, Georgia Southern University Tom Batey Jr. Alumni Memorial Scholarship, Keystone Music Scholarship, Bridgett Green Scholarship, R.E. Ledford Scholarship, and American Business Women’s Association Scholarship.
John Smith also received numerous scholarships – the Children of Baptist Ministers Scholarship, Brewton-Parker College Music Scholarship, William A. (Jinky) Hooker Scholarship, and Heritage Leadership & Worship Scholarship.
Other scholarship recipients were: Hailey Horton – Mercer University Merit Scholarship, Dean’s Scholarship for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences; Lily Williams – Georgia Southern University President’s Scholarship, Ancestral Family Association of Andrew Elton Williams Scholarship; Carleigh Miley – Chick-Fil-A Remarkable Futures Scholarships.
Other Awards
Carleigh Miley was honored with the Principal’s Award for having the highest overall GPA of the class for the year, as well as the Bible Scholar Award for having the highest overall GPA in a biblical class for the year.
Julia Beacham received the Character Award, which is noted as the Daniel Award for the senior class. The Daniel Award is an allusion to the biblical story of Daniel, and is given to the student who strives to exhibit Godly character in all things.
Graduating National Honors Society Members, who were given a stole to wear during the ceremony, were Julia Beacham, Hailey Horton, Emily Jarriel, Carleigh Miley, Chess O’Neal, Shelby Sikes, John Colby Thompson, Rylee Toole, and Lily Williams.
