accidents to officers. When a person buys Fentanyl-laced Methamphetamine or Marijuana, they do not know that the drug is laced nor how much Fentanyl the drug contains. It may be just enough to be fatal. Fentanyl does not discriminate. Any exposure by an adult or child could easily result in an overdose or death.
I am urging you to protect yourself and those you love. Choose to heed this warning. There will be those who will not take this warning seriously, those who will continue a lifestyle of illegal drugs and even those who will choose to continue to move drugs throughout our County. For this group of people, our deputies and drug task force will be working every day to find and arrest those who use, misuse, and sell illegal drugs on our streets. It is your choice… jail, prison, overdose or possibly death. You have been warned!
On March 4, 2023, Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office assisted by Narcotics Agents with the Oconee Drug Task Force performed a traffic stop that resulted in the recovery of methamphetamine. Melissa Childs of Vidalia was arrested on a charge of Trafficking Methamphetamine, having been in possession of twenty-eight grams of Methamphetamine.
On May 8, 2023, Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office accompanied by Officers from the Mt.Vernon Police Department and Narcotics Agents with the Oconee Drug Task Force executed a Search Warrant on Spring Street in Mt. Vernon that resulted in the recovery of fentanyl. Rodney Mock and Dillan Lowther of Mt.Vernon were arrested on charges of Trafficking Fentanyl having been in possession of four grams of fentanyl.
On May 17, 2023, Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office assisted by Narcotics Agents with the Oconee Drug Task Force executed Arrest Warrants for the Bacon County Sheriff’s Office at the residence of Jeremy Scott of Uvalda. Upon serving the arrest warrants, the officers discovered that Jeremy Scott was in possession of twenty-two grams of fentanyl and a firearm. He was charged with Trafficking Fentanyl and Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon.
On June 8, 2023, Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office assisted by Narcotics Agents with the Oconee Drug Task Force, the Georgia State Patrol, and the Treutlen County Sheriff’s Office performed a traffic stop in Higgston. Terry McCoy and Joni Joyner of the Lyons/Vidalia area were arrested for Trafficking Fentanyl, having thirty grams of fentanyl, and Cruelty to Children in the Third Degree.
