Bullets Fly in Vidalia

The Vidalia Police Department is investigating three cases of shots fired, which all occurred within a hour and a half period.

On Wednesday, July 19, at approximately 12:30 a.m., Vidalia Police Officers were dispatched to 1208 Easter Drive (Raymonia Apartments) regarding shots fired within the complex. Upon arrival, officers met with residents of Apartment 12 and Apartment 16 who reported property damage from gunfire with no bodily injuries. The damage reported for Apartment 12 was to two windows which were each part of a child's bedroom that were occupied. The damage reported for Apartment 16 was to the window of the living room which was occupied by a child.

At approximately 12:50 a.m., while Vidalia Police Officers were still investigating the incident at Raymonia Apartments, they heard multiple shots fired west of their location. Officers contacted the res- continued from page

idents of 505 West North Street who had damage to the front part of the residence from gunfire. No bodily injuries were reported but the room where damage was sustained was occupied by one of the residents.

Later, at approximately 1:39 a.m., Vidalia Police Officers were dispatched to 707 Loop Road (Wilkes Townhouse Apartments) in reference to multiple subjects with masks who were trying to enter into vehicles on the complex. While enroute, officers were advised that there were multiple shots fired within the complex. Upon arrival, officers observed a white in color Chrysler 200 leaving the area at a high rate of speed. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the vehicle fled. Officers pursued the vehicle until the occupants exited the vehicle and fled on foot in the 200 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The vehicle came to a final stop when it struck a tree line after causing damage to the property of 208 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The occupants of the vehicle are still at large at this time.
