Montgomery County Elementary Dress Code 2023 / 2024
TOPS: Acceptable:
1. Button up, polo style, tshirt, or blouse.
2. May be solid, striped, plaid, or print.
3. Must be appropriate size and fit to conceal upper chest, back, and midriff.
4. Sleeveless blouses must extend to the edge of each shoulder.
5. Must cover all undergarments.
6. Must be worn as designed.
Inappropriate:
1. Halter tops, spaghetti straps, and tank tops.
2. See through or mesh material covering a dress code violation.
BOTTOMS: Acceptable:
1. Shorts, capris, pants, skirts, and dresses.
2. May be solid, striped, plaid, or print.
3. Shorts, skirts, and dresses must be no more than 2 inches above knee.
4. Must be worn at natural waist.
5. Must cover all undergarments.
6. Leggings, yoga pants and similar bottoms must have top that is at least fingertip length or longer.
Inappropriate:
1. Sagging pants.
2. Excessively tight and revealing bottoms.
3. Pajama pants.
4. Holes in pants/jeans above knee (permanent patches are an acceptable correction).
JACKETS: Acceptable:
1. Button up, zip up, or pull over.
2. May be solid, striped, plaid, or print.
3. Must be appropriate size.
Inappropriate:
1. Trench coats or excessively large jackets are prohibited.
2. Used to cover up dress code violations.
3. Hoodies on head in building.
SHOES: Acceptable:
1. Must be worn at all times on campus.
2. Must be properly secured and fastened (tied, zipped, velcroed, or snapped) if applicable.
3. Closed toed shoes may be required for certain activities or courses.
Inappropriate:
1. Bedroom shoes and cleats.
LOGOS AND ILLUSTRATIONS Inappropriate:
1. Anything associated with alcohol, tobacco, guns, violence, drugs, racial, sexual, violent, obscenities, or gang related activity.
2. Anything creating a distracting or hostile environment.
3. Words, gestures, or symbols that could be offensive or demeaning to others.
4. Logos or emblems supporting other school systems.
ACCESSORIES: Approved:
1. Sunglasses and hats are for outside only.
Inappropriate:
1. Curlers, picks, and combs in hair.
2. Large chains or spiked jewelry.
3. Bandanas, shower caps, head wraps, and the like.
ADMINISTRATION DISCRETION
1. Administration retains right to make judgment calls in the best interest of the student and school to maintain a safe and orderly environment. Adjustments may be made as situations arise.
2. Items may be confiscated as needed.
3. Corrections to dress code may be allowed to protect instructional time, but disciplinary actions may be given to deter negative or repeated issues.
