Wheeler Over Lady Crusaders

The Lady Bulldogs of Wheeler County High School took on the Lady Crusaders of Robert Toombs Christian Academy in Lyons last Wednesday. Wheeler jumped out early and then had to hold on to come away with the win.

Wheeler jumped out with three runs in the top of the first inning to get the game underway. In the bottom half RTCA scored two runs to close the lead to 3-2. Wheeler added another run in the top of the second inning, and then they plated three more in the fourth inning to take a 7-2 lead. Wheeler made it 8-2 in the top of the fifth inning, but RTCA put three runs on the board in the bottom of the fifth to close the lead to 8-5. RTCA added one more in the sixth inning, but couldn't get it going in the seventh as they came up just short, 8-6, giving Wheeler the win.

This week Wheeler took on Swainsboro on Monday and Atkinson County on Tuesday, both after presstime. They will be back in action on Thursday with Wilcox County coming to town at 5:30 p.m.
