It has been a tough last week for the Vidalia High School Indians softball team as they have dropped their last five games. They fell to Glascock County on Monday, lost to Pierce County on Thursday, fell to West Laurens and Bacon County on Saturday, and then dropped a game to Jeff Davis on Monday of this week. vs. Glascock

It was a close game between VHS and Glascock. Vidalia had defeated Glascock the past week 5-2, but in this game Vidalia came up short.

The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fourth inning when Glascock was able to score two runs to take the lead on the Indians. Those were the only runs scored in the game as Glascock took the win. vs. Pierce

VHS took the early lead with a run in the top of the first inning. Vidalia added two more in the second inning to push the lead to 3-0.

Pierce finally got on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning as they scored one run to close it to 3-1. In the bottom of the sixth inning Pierce added three more runs as they jumped into the lead, 4-3.

Vidalia tied the game at 4-4 in the top of the seventh inning, and Pierce could not answer in the bottom half, sending the game to extra innings. Pierce plated a run in the bottom of the eighth to pull out the victory, 5-4, over Vidalia. vs. W. Laurens

Vidalia struck first with three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Neither team scored again until the bottom of the fourth when the Indians added two more to take a 5-0 lead over the Raiders.

West Laurens came back in the top of the fifth with three runs to close the lead to 5-3. They tied the game in the top of the seventh inning at 5-5, and held VHS in the bottom of the frame to send the game to extra innings.

The Raiders scored three runs in the top of the eighth inning to take their first lead of the game, 8-5, over the Indians. VHS plated two runs in the bottom of the inning, but fell short, losing the game 8-7. vs. Bacon

Bacon got on the board first with a run in the top of the first inning. Vidalia answered with a run in the bottom of the frame, but Bacon exploded in the top of the second with six more runs to push their lead to 7- 1.

Bacon increased their lead to 10-1in the top of the third inning, and the Indians never could recover. Vidalia added two in the fourth inning and one more in the fifth inning, but that was all they could muster as they dropped the game 10-4. vs. Jeff Davis

It was a close battle between the two old rivals on Monday of this week in Vidalia. Vidalia took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the second inning, but those were the only runs the Indians scored in the game.

JD plated one in the top of the third inning, and then tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the fourth inning. Niether team scored over the next couple of innings, sending this game to extra innings aswell. JDfinally added a run in the top of the ninth inning, but VHS could not answer in the bottom half as the Yellow Jackets took the win over VHS, 3-2.

This week will be a lighter week for VHS. They took on Tattnall County in a Region contest on Tuesday after presstime. They will be back in action in Lyons on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. when they take the short drive to face rival Toombs County.
