BPC Opens Season At Stan Sims

Brewton-Parker Men's and Women’s Cross Country kicked off the 2023 season with a challenge at the Stan Sims XC Opener hosted by Kennesaw State (Ga.) in Acworth, Ga.
Women
The field of teams was comprised of four NCAA Division I programs as well as an NCAA Division III program.
Brewton-Parker finished sixth as a team in a tough field which totaled 81 individuals running the 5k race as the Lady Barons competed with five runners. Jayda Spikes led the charge with a time of 26:21.32 and was followed up by Yecenia Solorzano (27:12.16), BPC newcomer, Anders Ignoffo (28:35.31), Jaleah Rhett (31:06.20), and Kayla Phipps (32:30.38).
The Lady Barons will travel to Macon, Ga. on Sept. 16 to take on the Julius Johnson Invitational hosted by Mercer (Ga.).
Men
The Barons competed against top-level talent as a part of a field that included three NCAA Division I programs as well as an NCAA Division III program in the season opener on Friday evening.
A total of nine Barons ran in the 78-man field with DeMario Thomas leading the way for BPC, crossing the finish line with a time of 17:22.26. Thomas was followed by Gabriel Wrye (17:32.17), Jonah Galli (17:47.99), DJ Chr i stensen (17:55.11), Jordan Hackett (18:29.24), Eric Smith (19:10.15), Anthony Ferrie (19:29.57), Trey Reid (19:34.39), and Brandon Williams (19:46.8).
The Barons will be back in action on Sept. 16 at the Julius Johnson Invitational in Macon, Ga.
