Farm Bureau Hosts Legislative Dinner

On Tuesday. August 29, the Tattnall, Toombs, and Evans County Farm Bureau agencies partnered together to host the annual Legislative Dinner, which is held in appreciation of the legislators and as a way of saying thank you for their service and for being a voice for the farmer in the legislative arena.
The event was held in the banquet room at Tattnall County Farm Bureau, where the group had their meal and then welcomed each legislator to address the crowd. Legislators gave an update on how they feel the state is doing, and what we can look forward to in the future. They spoke briefly about the Farm Bill, the public school system, the deer population and the hardships they are creating for the farmers, and other various issues the state of Georgia faces.
In attendance were Congressman Rick Allen (R-12), Senator Billy Hickman (R-4); Senator Blake Tillery (R-19), Representative Bill Werkheiser (R-157), and Representative Leesa Hagan (R159). Alsoinattendance was Andrew Young, who represented Senator Raphael Warnock’s office and Dominic Larriccia, who stood in for Ag Commissioner Tyler Harper’s office. Local officials of each county were also invited to attend.
This event is held in concurrence with Farm Bureau’s mission statement, which is to be an advocate on behalf of farm families and property owners on local, state, and national levels. The agency works closely with the legislators in order to do so.
