One Dead In Street Sweeper Accident

The life of a Mount Vernon man was claimed by a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian on Friday night.
The Vidalia Police Department was dispatched to the 27—block of East First Street in reference to the accident at approximately 7:27 p.m. on Friday, September 8. Officers arrived on scene and identified the pedestrian involved in the crash as Nealie Miller, 60, of Mount Vernon.
Miller was an employee of Long Engineering, and based on the preliminary evidence, was struck by a construction street sweeper that was backing up while working on the repaving of GA HWY 280. Miller was transported to Memorial Health Meadows Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The crash scene was turned over to the Georgia State Patrol Post 18 – Reidsville, who investigated the incident.
