VHS Cross Country Picking Up Pace

Over the past two weeks the Vidalia High School Indians cross country teams have competed in Eastman at Dodge County for the Run the Reservation meet, and then they were in Carrollton for The Ortho Invitational meet.

The Indian Cross Country teams competed in the Dodge County Run the Reservation on August 31. The Lady Indians brought home three medalists with Georgia Meredith placing 2nd, Judith Hussey placing 6th and Sadie Siegmund placing 8th.

The boys won the team championship and had five top 10 finishers. Leading the pack was Sophomore standout Cash Driggers in 1st place, 2nd place was Chamlee Evans, 3rd place was Jude Owen, 4th place was Liam MacGregor and 10th place was Abrien Anthony.

The boys team score are as follows: 1st-Vidalia 17, 2nd-Perry High School 48, 3rd-Wilcox County 109 Ortho

The Vidalia Indian Cross Country team traveled to Carrollton, Georgia Saturday and brought home some impressive results. The Ortho Invitational meet is a very competitive meet hosted to preview the upcoming state meet course. The Indians competed in the small school division consisting of 1A, 2A, 3A and 4A schools. The ladies' race consisted of 238 athletes while the boys' race had 308 athletes and 45 teams.

Georgia Meredith continues to compete with the best in the state as she brought home a 6th place finish. Freshmen Judith Hussey and Sadie Siegmund looked very strong and turned in commendable times!

Andrew Hodges had his fastest time on this course placing 12th while Jude Owen had a personal best on the course as well, placing 15th. Andrew and Jude joined forces with Cash Driggers, Chamlee Evans and Liam MacGregor for a 3rd place team finish.

Coaches Mandy Godbee and Lee Humphrey will continue training and watching with anticipation as the season unfolds. These athletes keep surging forward and trusting the process.
