Wheeler Defeats Portal
The Wheeler County High School Lady Bulldogs softball team played two games last week. They fell to the Tigers of Swainsboro on Monday but bounced back with a win over Portal to wrap up the regular season. vs. Swainsboro
It was a tough game for the Bulldogs against Swainsboro. The Tigers scored two runs in the first inning to take the early lead, but Wheeler came back with two in the bottom of the first to tie the game. Swainsboro added three more in the top of the second inning to take a 5-2 lead.
Wheeler picked up one in the bottom of the second to close it to 5-3, but in the top of the fourth the Tigers extended their lead to 8-3. Wheeler again kept it close with two more runs in the bottom of the inning, but in the top of the fifth the Tigers plated three more to make it 115.
In the top of the seventh the wheels fell off for Wheeler as Swainsboro scored 10 runs to go ahead 21-5. Wheeler didn't get anything going in the bottom of the seventh as they lost the

Wheeler took the early lead in this game with five runs in the bottom of the first inning, and never looked back. They added a run in the second inning to lead 6-0.
Wheeler scored two more in the fourth inning to make it 7-0, and scored one more run in the fifth to take the win by the run rule, 8-0.
This week Wheeler was playing in the Super Regional on Monday against Miller County after presstime. The rest of their week will depend on that game.
