The Eagles of Montgomery County High School had a difficult task Friday night, as they hosted the undefeated and #7 ranked War Eagles from Jenkins County. Jenkins County was able to remain undefeated on the year as they used a dominant rushing attack to defeat MOCO by a score of 55-19.

Jenkins didn't waste any time getting on the scoreboard as they took the opening possession down for a score to take an early lead. Montgomery was able to get on the scoreboard in the first quarter as well when Freshman Quarterback Joseph Owens hit Marquis Martin for a 71yard TD pass. The twopoint conversion failed, and the visiting War Eagles scored on their next two possessions to maintain a comfortable lead at halftime.

The home team was once again able to create some fireworks when Senior Marquis Martin returned the opening kickoff of the second half 86 yards for a touchdown. The Eagles had momentum; however, the ground game of Jenkins proved too tough for the remainder of the game, and they were able to control the clock and the scoreboard for the win. MOCO was able to get one more score late in the fourth quarter with a 9-yard touchdown run by Tristian Bell, the PAT was good by Bray Williamson.

Joseph Owens finished the game with 10 completions on 22 attempts for 138 yards passing and one touchdown. Senior receiver Marquis Martin was the primary target with 5 catches for 135 yards and one receiving touchdown to go along with his kickoff return for a touchdown. Jamun Coglin was the leading rusher with 9 carries for 76 yards. Elijah McEwen was the leading tackler on the night with 7 total tackles.

The Eagles are off this week and have their last regular season game of the season next week at ECI.
