VHS Chess Wins Tournament

The Vidalia High School chess team competed in the Swainsboro MS Chess Tournament on October 21, finished as the Top Team, and several players earned individual honors.

Alexander Musafarov tied for first place, as an individual, for the tournament. Sukumar Paidi was the top 'Rated' player outside the top three finishers. Ethan Hart was the top 'Local' player outside the top three finishers, and Bradley Landon was selected as the Most Improved Player.

Nate Landon, Adam Foster, and Aiden Ellis also competed for the VHS CHESS team.

VHS won the South Georgia Region title and finished in the Final Four of the 2023 State GHSA Tournament.

Coach Bobby George said, 'These players are working hard to improve their performance for the 2024 Georgia Chess Association State Tournament.'
