VHS Hosting Major Cheer Event

Parsons-Reid Gymnasium at Vidalia High School will be the site of the GHSA Class AA Region/ Sectional Competition Cheer Meet this Saturday. Twenty-six teams from around the State, along with their fans, will converge on the Sweet Onion City as Vidalia plays host to this event for the first time.

“It’s an honor to serve the GHSA in this capacity,” said Vidalia Head Coach Ann Michele Toole. The event, which will send the top 16 to the GHSA State Championships next Friday in Macon, will begin at 10:00 a.m. with Regions 1, 2 and 3 taking the floor. Regions 4,5,6,7, & 8 will begin their part of the competition at 1:00 p.m.

“Hosting this event in Vidalia provides our community an opportunity to experience competitive cheer and show support for the home team,” added Toole.

Vidalia is scheduled to take the floor at approximately 10:30 a,m., and Toole is asking that all Vidalia fans turn out in force to support the girls, “We hope to pack the house to cheer us on. Energy is so essential for the girl’s performance, so we hope to have Parsons-Reid filled to capacity with Indian fans.”
