BPC Cross Country At SSAC

The Brewton-Parker College men's and women's cross country teams wrapped up their seasons over the weekend at the Southern State Athletic Conference (SSAC) Championships.

Women

Brewton-Parker College Women’s Cross Country traveled to Danville, Ala., to end their season at the SSAC Championships Saturday morning.

BPC had six runners competing in a 6K field of 85 runners. The Lady Barons were able to produce a 10th place finish out of 12 team.

The Lady Barons were led by Karen Garcia, who had a 41st place finish with a time of 26:58.77. Jayda Spikes crossed the line next finishing in 29:23.26 for 55th place.

Yecinia Solorzano finished the race in 32:26.39 for a 68th place finish, Solorzano was followed by Jeleah Rhett, who took 69th place with a time of 32:34.08.

Kayla Phipps (73rd, 35:18.13) and Ander Ignoffo (76th, 36:51.11) rounded out the back for BPC.

Men

Brewton-Parker College Men’s Cross Country traveled to compete in the SSAC Championship held in Danville, Ala., on Saturday morning.

BPC was represented by 10 runners in the 90man field for the 8,000-meter race. The Barons were able to secure a 9th-place finish out of 11 teams.

Brewton-Parker was led by DeMario Thomas, who finished the race in 28:09.42 for a 43rd-place finish and was followed by Gabriel Wrye, who took 45th with a time of 28:20.23.

DJ Christensen crossed the line at 28:35.99 to finish 51st while Jonah Galli finished right behind with a time of 28.37.68 for 52nd place.

Eric Smith was the fifth Baron to finish, coming in 62nd with a time of 29:31.91 and was followed by Jacob Hackenberry with a 30.00.36 for 65th place as well as Jordan Hackett, who finished 71st with a time of 31:10.83.

Brandon Williams (73rd, 31:51.87), Anthony Ferrie (74th, 32:16.47), and Trey Reid (76th, 33:18.77) rounded out the end of the race for the Barons.
