Vikings Defeat Trojans

The Treutlen County High School Vikings football team closed out the season on a two game winning streak as they upset 7-1 Telfair County. The Vikings finished the season with a record of 3-7 and were 2-3 in Region play.

It was a close game throughout with the Vikings and Trojans tied at 6-6 at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter with less than a minute to play, Treutlen connected on a pass play for a touchdown. They went for the two-point conversion and did not get it, but were on top 12-6 heading into halftime.

In the third quarter with just over five minutes on the clock the Vikings added to their lead with a touchdown on the ground. They got the two-point try to take a 20-6 lead over Telfair.

Telfair added a score in the fourth quarter of the game, but Treutlen didn't allow another as they took the win, 20-12.

Treutlen did not make the playoffs, but they saw great improvement over the season and will be looking to continue in that direction next season.
