The Crusader football team of Robert Toombs Christian Academy have punched their ticket to Macon to play for the GIAA State Championship at 5-Star Stadium at Mercer University. They rolled to a win over Memorial Day in the Final 4 of the State Playoffs last Friday night at home.

The Crusaders had a bye in the first round of the playoffs sending them into the Final 4 against Memorial Day. RTCA had already defeated Memorial two weeks ago 636, so they knew going into the game that they were looking toward a shot at the State Title.

With two minutes left to play in the first quarter, the Crusaders were already out to a 14-0 lead over the Matadors. After forcing another punt, David Hill scored with just three seconds left in the first quarter on a big 68yard run. Hayden Meeks tacked on the PAT for a 21-0 lead for RTCA.

RTCA's defense stopped Memorial and they took over on downs at the Memorial 36-yard line. They quickly moved down the field and scored on a run by Justin Powell. They added the extra point for a 28-0 lead with just over seven minutes to play in the first half.

With 4:40 left in the half, Powell scored again, this time on a 45-yard run. Meeks added the extra point to take a 36-0 lead over Memorial.

In the third quarter of the game, the Crusaders were leading 42-0, and at the end of the third period they were threatening to score again with the ball down at the twoyard line. On the first play of the fourth quarter, they tacked on their final touchdown of the game as they took a 49-0 lead.

With the running clock, RTCA did not score again, but the Matadors did pick up a touchdown and a two-point conversion to make the final score 49-8.

The Crusaders will have this week off and will play for the State Championship next Friday in Macon at 2:00 p.m. against Flint River Academy. RTCA heads into the game with a 7-4 record, while Flint River is currently 11-0 on the year.
