Eagles Take 2 From CCA
The Montgomery County High School Eagles basketball teams were on the road on Tuesday of last week as they faced off with the Patriots of Citizens Christian Academy in Douglas. Both MCHS teams came away with wins.
The Lady Eagles were led by seniors Amire Banks and Marley Bell, who each scored over 20 points. MCHS jumped out to a 12-7 lead in the first quarter of the game. CCA slowed them down in the second, but the Eagles were in front 17-15 at the end of the first half.
MCHS began to pull away in the third quarter, taking a 31-23 lead to the fourth. In the fourth MCHS outscored CCA, 22-14, on the way to a 53-37victory.
Banks led the way with 24 points and Bell added 21 in the win.
In the boys game CCA got on the board first, and pushed it to an early 9-0 lead. MCHS pulled it back to 12-5 midway through the first. In the second quarter, the Eagles had got it to 3027, and then tied the game at 32-32 early in the third quarter.
MCHS took the lead in the third, 38-34, and pushed that to 45-40 in the fourth. MCHS kept up the defensive pressure and took the win, 59-48.
This week MCHS will be at home against Vidalia at 6:00 p.m. on Friday night and then will host Wheeler County on Saturday at 5:00 p.m.
