On Tuesday of last week, Vidalia High School standout softball pitcher, Tymber Harris signed her letter of intent to play for the Yellow Jackets of Georgia Tech.

Tech has the #7 recruiting class in the nation this year, and Harris is the #26 ranked prospect in the entire country.

Harris has been part of a great run at VHS as they made it to the Final 4 and went 23-9 in her senior season. Overall, the Indians were 104-35 over Harris' four years, were three-time Region Champions and three-time Final 4 participants. They also were the State Runner-up in 2021.

Harris had a list of accomplishments on the mound. In her senior year, she pitched in all 32 games and started 30 of those. Over 183 innings she allowed just 89 hits and 26 runs. She had a .995 ERA and recorded a single season record 340 strikeouts. She was the 3AA Pitcher of the Year, was named to the GACA All-State Team, and to the Georgia Dugout Club All-State All Star Game.

Over her career, she was named 1st Team All-Region all four years, threetime GACA All-State, and had a career record in the circle of 40-19. She is third all time at VHS in wins with 40. She is first all time in innings pitched at 370.1, and first all time in strikeouts with 683, which is 270 more than second place. She also shared considerable time with several great pitchers over the past couple of years in Bailey Holland and Madison Starr, or those numbers may have been even higher.

Harris said, “I am happy and thankful that everybody that got me to this point was here to see all the hard work pay off. Georgia Tech is not too far from home and they have great educational opportunities.”

VHS Head Coach Ben Beck stated, “We are proud of Tymber and her future at Georgia Tech and what she can bring to that great program. We are going to miss Tymber as a person, not just what she can do on the field. She has set records at Vidalia High School with career strikeouts that to be honest might never be broken. She represents this community so well, and we are proud of everything she has done.”
