Good Week For Vikings
It was a busy week for the Vikings basketball teams of Treutlen County High School. They faced off with Telfair County on Tuesday, Wilcox County on Friday and then Wheeler County on Saturday. The Lady Vikings picked up two wins, and the boys won all three of their games.
Girls vs. Telfair
In the girls contest it was a slow start for both teams. Treutlen held a onepoint, 6-5, lead at the end of the first qaurter. But in the second both of the teams began to find their mark as the Vikings pushed their lead to 25-20 by the end of the first half.
In the third quarter the Lady Trojans of Telfair came storming back and jumped in front. At the end of the third the Trojans were on top 40-37. But Treutlen was not done, and they caught and overtook the Trojans in the fourth quarter. Treutlen took the win, 61-57.
Boys vs. Telfair
In the boys game the Vikings pulled away and took a fairly easy win over the Trojans. Treutlen won the game by the score of 6553. vs. Wilcox The only loss of the week for Treutlen came at the hands of the Lady Patriots of Wilcox. Wilcox edged out the Lady Vikings by the score of 49-45.
In the boys contest the Vikings rolled to an easy win over Wilcox. The boys won their game 72-53 over the Patriots.
vs. Wheeler
Wheeler put up a good fight in the girls game, but the Lady Vikings were too much as they took the win over their rival. Treutlen won the contest, 50-41. That improves the Lady Vikings' overall record to 9-5 on the season, and they are 4-1 in Region play.
The boys also got a big win over the Bulldogs of Wheeler. Treutlen took the win, 66-58. The Treutlen boys are now 9-4 overall and are also 4-1 in Region play.
This week Treutlen will host the Tigers of Swainsboro on Friday night at 6:00 p.m. and then on Saturday the Eagles of Montgomery County will come to town with the first game also at 6:00 p.m.
