Indians Take 2  Region Wins

The Vidalia High School Indians basketball teams took on Pierce County’s Bears, and the Herons of Brantley County last week. The Lady Indians dropped both of their games, but the boys picked up two wins as they improved their record to 16-5 overall and 7-2 in Region action keeping them in second place behind Toombs County.

Girls vs. Pierce

The Lady Indians had the lead early in this game as they were on top 9-7 at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter was very low scoring with just a total of seven points being added between the two teams. At the end of the first half the Lady Bears were in front 12-11 over VHS.

In the third VHS took the lead back and extended it to 25-21. But in the fourth quarter Pierce went on a run and outscored VHS 12-6. That gave them the win, 33-31, over Vidalia.

Boys vs. Pierce

The VHS boys picked up a win over the Bears on Tuesday in Blackshear. The Indians took the win over the Bears 52-44.

Girls vs. Brantley

Against the Lady Herons, Vidalia trailed 12-11 in the first quarter of the game, but in the second Brantley pulled away to a 28-18 lead at halftime.

Vidalia went on a run in the third quarter of the game as they outscored Brantley, 15-7. That closed the lead to 35-33, with Brantley clinging to a lead. But in the fourth the Indians could not keep up as Brantley picked up the win, 53-44.

Boys vs. Brantley

VHS jumped out to a big lead in the first quarter of the game against the Herons. VHS led 25-13 at the end of the first quarter. VHS extended their lead in the second quarter of the game and held a 35-19 lead at the end of the first half.

In the third quarter VHS outscored Brantley 19-8, as they pushed their lead to 54-27. VHS went on to win the game 71-41 over Brantley.

This week the Indians were at Windsor Forest on Tuesday after presstime. They will not be back in action until next Tuesday when they host Tattnall County at 6:00 p.m.
